I'm trying to answer the question: Who am I and why am I here?

A cousin and I tried to start this project about 40 years ago but we found no cooperation from our aunts who feared that we'd find skeletons in some closets. There are a few, but sometimes minor scandal is in the eye of the beholder.  Time can change the perception of the seriousness of the event.

Now that the previous generation has passed, I've begun the quest again. I've accumulated a lot of information about my ancestors in the U.S. and am now focusing on their origins in Poland.

I'm also trying to answer that same question for my children so I'm searching for my ex-husband's roots in Bohemia and in New York State.  Bohemia is a bigger challenge than Poland!

And lastly, I'm continuing the genealogy project on my husband's family that was begun by one of his sons.

My posts here will reflect whichever line I'm working at the time I write.  When I tire of hitting the brick wall on one, I move to another.  Keeps me somewhat on the positive side of sane.

Click on the "Surnames I am Searching for" tab to see the names I'm researching.

  1. Our family has roots in Bohemia, as well. This is my first visit to your blog - I'll be interested in reading further, to see how you've been researching those Bohemian roots! Mine are Ludwig, Feig, Ploss, and Wunderlich. :)
